Frequently Asked Questions
How long does processing take?
Most requests are processed within a few minutes to a few hours, but GDPR regulations allow up to 30 days for completion. The processing time depends on the amount of data and the current queue length.
Can I cancel a request after submitting it?
No, once a request is queued, it cannot be cancelled. Please review carefully before confirming.
Will I be notified if my request fails?
Yes, you'll receive an ephemeral follow-up message and the original message will be updated explaining why the request failed.
Can I select multiple servers at once?
Yes! For "All transcripts from servers" and "All your messages in servers" options, you can select multiple servers using the multi-select dropdown menu (if you have 25 or fewer eligible servers) or by entering comma-separated server IDs (if you have more than 25).
What's the difference between deleting transcripts and anonymizing messages?
- Deleting transcripts: Completely removes the entire transcript file for all tickets. This requires server ownership.
- Anonymizing messages: Replaces your messages with anonymized text while keeping the transcript intact. This does not require server ownership.
Can I request an export of my data before deletion?
Currently, data export is not available through the bot. Please contact support via the support server for data export requests.
Does message anonymization affect other users' ability to see the transcript?
No, only your messages are anonymized. The transcript remains visible to others, but your messages and username will be replaced.
What if I accidentally request deletion of the wrong data?
Unfortunately, there is no undo function. Deleted data and anonymized messages cannot be recovered. Always double-check your request before confirming.
What happens if the GDPR worker is offline?
If the GDPR processing service is temporarily unavailable, you'll see an error message and won't be able to submit requests. Try again in a few minutes, or contact support if the issue persists.
Do I need to stay in the support server or keep my DMs open?
No, once your request is queued, it will continue processing even if you close your DMs or are offline. You'll receive the completion notification when you next open your DMs with the bot.
